Everything You Need to Know

Joining a new club is an exciting step. Here are a few things families often want to know before becoming part of the Lightning Speed community.

Does my child need prior track and field experience? Not at all. Lightning Speed welcomes athletes of all ability levels, from beginners discovering the sport for the first time to experienced athletes looking to improve their performance.

How often do athletes train? Lightning Cubs train once per week. Lightning Juniors and Seniors train twice a week. Sessions are designed to support long-term development, skill building, and enjoyment of the sport while balancing school, family, and other activities.

Is competition required? Competition opportunities are available for an extra fee, but participation is always optional. Our focus is on helping each athlete develop confidence, skills, and a love of sport at a pace that is right for them.

What events will my child learn? Athletes are introduced to a variety of track and field events, including sprints, middle-distance running, relays, jumps, and age-appropriate event skills.

What should my child bring to practice? Athletes should wear comfortable athletic clothing and running shoes and bring a water bottle. Additional event-specific equipment is provided or communicated as needed.
